Unlocked skills for PvE char
Hi, maybe a really stupid question, but something came up in my mind.
I have a warrior, monk, ranger and a mesmer (deleted my ele, but unlocked almost all skills). If I want to PvP I have to do it with my PvE chars. I can change secondaries in the desert, but if I do, I need to get secondary class skills. However, I figured that it may be possible to get to all of your unlocked skills once you are in a PvP area. For instance: my warrior never played elementalist as secondary. My elementalist unlocked almost all skills. If I change the warriors secundary to ele and jump to the Tombs, would I have access to my unlocked ele-skills on this PvE char? Or do I need to buy all ele-skills (even if I already unlocked them) I want to test? The same applies to other secondary classes. Which in turn means if I want to test several things with different secondary classes I run out of skill points.... And I have a real disadvantage compared to a PvP-only char. Hope someone can answer this one. |

Unfortunately, yes, you must unlock all the skills with your PvE warrior first. That's the problem with PvE characters. You have to unlock the skills for each PvE character.

What he said ... that is why most people are keeping 4th character slot free to create and recreate new PvP chars that can use any of the skills your account has unlocked - way more convenient.

Thanks for the answers! I would see a change in how this works then
It should be fair to have access to all your unlocked skills in PvP-areas only. As soon as you warp to a PvE outpost/town your unlocked skills should disappear (same as you change your secundary in the desert). Or, they really should make the gaining of skill points easier Either way it should cater for a change of my PvE play style towards a PvP play style.... |

I think this system is just great - it allows people to create any kind of class/skill combos they want to try in PvP in 2 minutes and just have fun. Don't you think that if all PvE chars would have access to all previously unlocked skills, it would defy the whole purpose of PvE? Which mainly is, questing, exploring and acquiring skills ... |

But of course I can delete a character and keep a slot for a PvP-character only. But that is not what I was intended to do...I am familiar with my PvE characters and want to experiment with them in PvP |
